SWM Articles

Post by Warren »

Greetings all,
I was wondering if anyone had any information on SWM's as I would love to read about them. One of those brands that I remember from late 70's - 80's that went into bust

Cheers

Hey Warren have you had a look at the SWM internet forum on Trials Central? I'm sure you will get a few leads there.
SWM and Italjet were both beneficiaries of the collapse of Bultaco/OSSA, as some of their technical people then helped these Italian companies develop the bikes that took over from these two well-known Spanish brands.
I know enough to know that in the hands of Darryl Martin his SWMs have performed very well in the last ten years or so. I test rode one of Darryl's SWMs a couple of years ago (the one with the rotary valve induction 280?) and it felt quite wonderful after whatever 1970s bike I had just got off.
Here are nice shots of John Barwick on an SWM and an Italjet (photos courtesy of Peter Paice)
PS I posted your DVD on Monday
