newby question

Post by sean-ben »

hi trailers,

have just come across a couple of Ty's and would love to get some feedback and advice. they are both ty175's and apparently one is a B and the other a C. both very rough but am looking at doing them up a little bit custom to have some fun on.

question is....is there a better one of the two?
can they be road registered?

cheers

TY175 B and C models differ only in colours and serial number prefixes. Anything is road registerable if you are willing to spend enough money.
Being a 1975 model, the B model is pre-ADR, so in some states is an easier bike to register than the C model

Complete seats are available from Sammy Miller Products (UK) or their agents
Fibreglass replica seat bases and replica seat covers are available - have a look on eBay
The only replica front plastic guards I know of are made by DC plastics in the USA. There are Australian sellers of DC plastics
A few people have made fibreglass replica front guards from time to time - look on eBay
The universal front plastic guard made by Gonelli can be made to fit the TY using either the steel brace that is under the standard guard, or using a tubular mount from Sammy Miller Products
Rear plastic guards that are replicas of the original are available from In Motion Trials (UK). The rear Gonelli universal can also be made to fit with a bit of ingenuity
Many trials parts suppliers sell Gonelli guards
Have a look at Trail & Trials UK also

Hi Sean
VMX Unlimited at Medowie NSW have some great plastic front and rear guards for TY175's generally in stock & at very good prices as well.
Have purchased fronts and rears myself and very good replica of genuine items (rear is slightly narrower than Trails & Trials UK item but still a good fit- also bought one of those previously)
Normally you can just go to website http://www.vmxunlimited to view and purchase items however appears to be some problem with site at the moment.
You can check out his ads in VMX magazine also, or get a phone number from OZ VMX site or VMX Magazine website -VMX Sources page.
He also has cables, air filters other plastics etc for TY's
Regards
