RL250 airbox

Post by brent j »

I've just joined up here and picked up an RL250 after a gap of 40 or so years since the last one.

it needs work but I'm wondering if anyone has a complete airbox for sale?

Thanks

I think I can come up with one but I am in the States. (Nebraska)
How much do you need ? Just the box?
The shipping might be a factor.

Let me look in the next day or two at my pile of extra RL stuff and I will respond again.

Hello again, YES I have an extra air box, (BUT) It is missing the mounting tabs and it is missing the air filter inside.

I bought 7 RL-250 Suzuki's in a package deal and only three of them had air boxe's.

I restored one bike back to 100% and built a second one as a rider. Im sorry about the tabs that are missing and I have no idea why or when they were removed, that's the way I got them. If your still interested, and you want to weld on some new mounting tabs let me know.

My heart stopped a little when I read this...now THAT is a package deal! Got photos of them all together? Would love to see that many RL's in one place!

Were they all ex-competition bikes? How many of them had cracked / repaired frames?

Your restored bike looks amazing by the way - congratulations on a great build!

Two of them ran and one was a very nice complete bike.
Four of the frames have been welded in the usual spot. One has a Kawasaki front end and the whole rear section of the frame is Kawasaki, from the seat back.
One had a steel tank and one didn't have a tank at all .Only two have a complete air box with the rubber boots.
Only two of the bikes had side covers, Only one of the motors is stuck and I haven't looked into the reason. Only three had the correct seat. None had lights but one of them had the wire's for the break light.
This pile had changed hands a couple times before I got a hold of them but no one took the time and effort to do any thing with them.
All in All I just wanted to build one to ride and one for show and now I have a bunch of parts left over.

BTW I offered the air box I have left over to Brent for free if he wants to pay the shipping.

Three un-cracked frames out of 7 isn't bad! The one with the KT front & rear sounds interesting... Sounds like a few of them were very well used!

Just imagine all the RL250 lighting kits that were taken off new bikes and put in boxes, only to be forgotten about or thrown out...

Very tidy RL250 on eBay here in oz this week - I wonder if anyone on here picked it up? Looks to be very original and in good nick for $1,800.
