Making it easier to fit a new tyre
Leaving a partly-inflated tube inside a new trials tyre for a few days takes away the tendency for the new tyre to have its beads pressing together. This makes it heaps easier to fit it to the rim when the time comes.

Re: Making it easier to fit a new tyre
You can also use the 6 beer can method.
Place 5 beer cans at even spacings around the tyre bead.
Drink the 6th can.
Take cans out of the tyre and place in fridge.
Fit tyre.
Drink remaining cans.
Thank me later.

Re: Making it easier to fit a new tyre
Reminds me of a plumber I once used on our work.
If he needed a trench dug, he would bring " Big Bessie" along to do it. Gary ( plumber ) would string longnecks out every half metre to mark the path of the trench.
Every metre a second additional longneck placed perpendicular would mark the depth of the trench at that location.
Seemed to work.
