Post by cactus jack »

Hi, I have to rewire the magneto to cdi unit wiring harness on my fantic 243 but do not have any wiring diagrams or the like(beleive it or not my dog chewed the ends off the wires!) Any one who can direct me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah and the dog ate my homework. :D

Try contacting John Rees. I am sure someone here will have his number or email.

I can easily believe your story about the dog eating the wiring. I once bought an old bike from a farm and one of the things I had to fix before it would run was the damage done by cows chewing on the wiring where it goes up past the air box. The cows had also done a pretty good job of eating the seat and plastic sidecover too. I don't know much about cows so have no idea why they would do that sort of thing but dogs are well known for chewing things when they are bored.

I traded in an F100 years ago that had no trim in the interior at all. The seat was bare springs and not even a door trim or a seat belt. The owner said he had a Bully that he left the cab one day and that was that.

I went to his house a couple of days later to deliver his new car. The grass in the yard was nearly two feet high. The guy saw me looking around and then took me out to the backyard and showed me the lawn mower. The bloody dog had eaten the alloy head off the motor....

Think your self lucky Jack! And you could try searhing the Fantic topics on http://www.trialscentral.com, someone might have a link to a diagram somewhere.

the 243

Post by cactus jack »

Well as it turned out the cdi unit had the wiring colours already stamped on it so all i did was match them up! i shoulda looked before i asked but hey, everyone gets to be stupid once in a while!.

oh and she is going now, god i missed her. i rode her as a junior competing in the vic champs almost 15 years ago! then 10 years ago i rode her in the bush with mates and shattered 2nd gear primary drive into 6 peices. a year later my dad pulled her apart, boxed her up and that was that. 1 year ago he gave her to me as a birthday present. i had the guys at work make me a gear from what i still had of the shattered one(only half of it in three peices). so in short after 10 years in a box i rode her again on the weekend. GOD I'VE MISSED THAT BIKE!!!!!!
