I know it's not a twinshock, but our rules are a bit less strict over here, and I'm really enjoying riding my 1985 Fantic 301. Smooth power, nice turning, great climber, and still air cooled and (rear) drum braked... I am keen to get the gearing down further, as it is 11-39, but my KT is 13-52 (about 4:1).

Yep! Took about 3 degrees out of the fork angle by sawing the steering head nearly off, pulling back the forks and welding a wedge into the gap. There is an old post
"RL250 Steering geometry correction" (bottom of page) that gives the exact process and dementions. Done this to a couple of frames and the turning radius rivals that of a modern Beta. Picture we refer to is at bottom of page 16.

Interesting pics, whats going on with the frame behind the gearbox in the footrest / swinging arm pivot area ? Also, whats going on with the oil pump cover ?
I've been toying with the idea of having some clutch covers cast that would look like the ones that people fit on TY175's after removing the oil pump.I think they use one from a YZ mx motor.I reckon they would tidy up the rh side of a TY250 motor really well, would you be interested if I got some cast ?

Jon, I'm going to have a guess about the frame mods in the footpeg/swingarm pivot area. I reckon he has moved that section of the frame behind the gearbox rearwards, moved the swingarm pivot closer to the rear of the gearbox and lengthened the swingarm.
