Great idea for aircooled trials bike

Post by MackayMatt »

Giday every one

my hybrid Yamaha AG100 runs quite hot after constant trial use or hill climbs, in creek with no airflow etc so I've came up with a simple fix which might be of use to some one on here,

by mounting a small themo fan between the frame just above the exhaust the motor runs a lot cooler in all situations

the ag100 had a tendency to detonate on long hill climbs or under high load when hot but this has now been drastically reduced

its only a cheap Ebay fan for $25 to see if it would make a difference , the results are very positive the fan is just hooked up via the 1/2wave rectifier from the lighting coil despite being 12V it still moves alot of air when revs are increased over 2500

any case it has now made it possible to ride the bike on harder steeper terrain as there's no fear of melting its little hot head

Cheers
Matt

Good one Matt, is it switched on and off manually or by thermostat, or always on?

manual switch mate though you can virtually let it run constantly it doesn't slow down the motor warming up from what Ive seen it just put the switch there in case something happens
