Does anyone remember the Yamaha TY250 CAT.
It was a TY250 with a Yamaha made kit to turn it into more of a trailbike.
I seem to remember they had a longer seat and the pegs were moved forward and down.
I'm sure there were other things but they escape me

As far as I can remember that was about the sum total of the alternative parts for it.
I do have some very old info on it buried deep in the shed. I can dig it out if needed

From memory, here in Canada, you could buy the kit : longer seat, bracket to move the footrest fwd and longer foot control, or you could buy each item separately.

Yes ... I do have the trail kit on mine.
It also has a longer swing arm bolt to facilitate the footpeg brackets and a couple of little do dads that go over the original peg pivots to blunt them off.
I installed some "rox risers" to move the bars up and forward and that made the whole set up work well.
I really enjoy the riding position when on long faster trails or in the paddocks, but you can forget it on gnarly twisty single track.
The whole kit bolts on and off, so you can return to standard as you like.

Given the rarity of the trail conversion... I was surprised to see a TY250 appear yesterday on Aus EBay, resplendent with the entire kit.

Alastair, was your

CAT kit sourced via the Australian dealer network?
I see that D model with the CAT kit on eBay was imported from the USA

I confess to being a bit fond of

A model tanks and bought this one from the USA a couple of years ago, complete with Cat stickers

Brent did you see them in Australia back in the day?

Hey David.
I have 2 trail kits, both sourced from the US.
One was a NOS kit that I no doubt paid an exorbitant amount of money for.
Later I spotted a "bit of a kit" on eBay and contacted the US bike wrecker and explained the issue of the vital longer swing arm bolt and other bits and pieces.
He had no idea, but found it all bar the peg pivot dodads.
The peg relocating brackets attach at the swing arm bolt and have special plugs that hammer in to the lower frame cross member and then accept a bolt. On my bike the cross member had copped a bit of a hiding so I hammered a hardwood dowel right through and then used a couple of roofing screws. Here is my kit fitted to my beloved "A" model:

The NOS peg kit is somewhere in the shed along with a mountain of NOS A model bits including a NOS tank. Strange obsession.
Also while I am going, here are photos of the "D" model on ebay I talked about:
