Montesa Cota colour code

Post by Cota 123 »

Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to give me a colour code they have had success with? It's for an early Cota 172. I have found a couple of codes on the net but they appear to be U.S. based as they don't come up on my local paint shop's system (Australia). I did a site search but couldn't find anything. I am using acrylic lacquer, not 2 pack.

Thanks in advance

I've got a 247 tank that needs repainting one day, some research I did years ago on Montesa forums had quite a few suggesting RAL 3020 (traffic red), someone else suggested 25% RAL 2001/75% RAL 2002. The most recommended for an exact match was a Peugeot colour called Vallelunga Red (rouge), don't know if an Australian paint shop would even have that listed. I lost interest in the end but would be curious what you settle on. Cheers.

Thanks, that gives me somewhere to start. It sounds like Montesa used a few different shades of red in the early days, so there may be more than one 'correct' colour.
Cheers
