1976 ty175jc restoration

Post by woodstock »

Gday all, I am attempting to restore/resurrect a 1976 ty175jc and wonder if anyone could tell me a paint code or colour code for the orange/red of the fuel tank and the white colour of the fuel tank and headlight body. Would there be a yamaha code for these colours. Would the orange/red be portuguese orange.

Thanks for reading, Paul

Yamaha had trendy names for their paint colours back then but they mean nothing when you go to buy paint nowadays. An easy way to get the right colour is to cut back an area of the original orange paint (paint cutting compound on a rag buff or by hand) to reveal the original colour and let the paint shop scan it and mix from that.
If you don't have anything that still has the original paint you may be able to borrow a suitable part from someone nearby to you as a sample to scan.
The TY175JC and TY175C both used the same orange colour.
Yes Yamaha called it Portuguese Orange

Thanks for the reply David, I reckon the paint on the underside of the fuel tank might be ok to scan. Saw your video on the TY175JC comparison, thought it was excellent.

Thanks again, Paul
