This time I have no idea who the rider is so I'm hoping someone out there can provide the answer.
I took this photo in 1976 at a NDTMC Open Trial at Lacey's Creek, Dayboro near Brisbane.
The thing about this rider is that they were from somewhere else a long way away but had brought their own bike so they could ride a few trials while they were away.
There are good clues in the photo:
The rider has a shirt with STEVE printed on it so no prizes for the rider's first name.
The bike is a Cota 348 and is very tidy looking.
The only other clue I have is that something way deep in my memory tells me he was from Canberra.
I've looked as closely as I can at the number board but cannot make out what it says.
I would think that "Steve" would have been in his mid 20s in 1976 so would be in his 50s now.
Good luck
Who is this rider?

Sorry PA - I'm on a memory trip having just made contact with some old primary school friends and was looking for the school photos and came across my old trials photos.

Re: Who is this rider?
Are you going to fit a snorkel to the TY?
Re: Who is this rider?
He is a big boy, only one that comes to mind may be Butch Johnston from Vic,
100% not Steve H he only ever rode Yamahas.
Maybe the rider borrowed the T shirt, similar build and size to Dave Pinkerton, long and rangey, but he was a Yam man too Im thinking.
What colour plate is on the front David......ohhhhhh black and white !
After a bit more thought, I know of a southern rider that came up for the 1976 Queensland titles at Ormeo at the back of the Gold Coast that year and rode a 348 Montesa.....Joe Hederick, from Appin down near Wollongong.
Thats who Im putting my money on.

Would this be the rider you mean david
The story of me riding that trial up there has brought up an old argument between me and my wife. The story goes we were just married and I thought going up to north Queenslands Whitsundays would be a great place for a honeymoon, my wife wanted the usual club med, figi.tahiti but I won the vote. And if your going up to Queensland you might as well ride a few trials dont you think. So I put the bike on the back of the panel van and away we went. I rode two trials and helped out at a training day you were having, ahh doesnt get much better than this for a honeymoon I said to Deb, the smell of two stoke, riding gear and boots and old socks in the back what more could you ask for. I remember one of the opens had 17 or 18 sections and all but 1 were in water, and deep water and one of the drop offs into a creek was one of the biggist drops I've ever done to this day.
coming from menai area found it a bit different.
Anyway coming up your way in about three weeks this time with a tinny on the roof and a bike on the back , mans got to have his toys. Might catch up with you and have a beer and you can tell where I can go riding on a ttr 250 around there. catch you later Steve. P.S Dont go stiring me up about Steve on the shirt there were alot more riders those days so we needed names on our shirts. Plus look at those knees thats when I could bend them.

Re: Who is this rider?
Great to hear from you Steve after all these years. Those trials out at Lacey's Creek in the 1970s are still pretty vivid in my mind too. I'll post another photo tonight.
There are plenty of neat places to ride your TTR around here if it has rego.
If you feel like it, the timing of your trip might be perfect for having a ride at our first club trial for the year on 9 March near Rockhampton. I'm sure we could arrrange a bike for you to use.
