The Oceanic champion this year would be Kyle Middleton as he won Open Solo as the results when published will show

To be the Oceanic Open Solo champion you first need to be selected as the Australian Open Team rider.
Even though Kyle won the event, he was only making up the numbers, highlighting how the selection process leaves a lot to be desired. It would be interesting to know if Kyle applied for consideration, and if so, why he was overlooked. If he did not, why not, when he was making the effort to travel to Queensland for the event.
So in answer to your question, it would be Boyd Willcocks that holds the title.
The same applies to Garen, even though he was second in the Masters class, behind Rick Kent, Garen is the Masters Oceanic champion.

Do we need to select a team for the home countrynipper wrote:To be the Oceanic Open Solo champion you first need to be selected as the Australian Open Team rider.

Nipper, I think you may be wrong re the Oceanic Champion. Perhaps Laugo can enlighten us on this one but I am certain he was given this title last year in New Zealand and he was not a team member. Perhaps NZ runs the event under separate rules????
