Best Trials Video Competition

Post by motostar99 »

Hey guys and girls,

I was just having a thought about something that would be a bit of fun and good for the trials community in Australia. What if we got together a best trials video competition? Open to the Australian Trials Community, anyone can submit a video (they have to record the video themselves) of them either riding in a competition, doing tricks in the backyard, whatever that might be doing aslong as they're on their trials bike. It could give people a chance to get creative and show everyone what they or someone they know are capable of.

Videos could be submitted of individuals, groups, however they want and could be of about 2 mins in length. To make it easier, the videos could always just be posted on youtube and then the link could be posted in Trials Australia for everyone who's entering? If there's enough interest maybe someone could jump on board to supply a prize. Wouldn't have to be much.

Interested to hear what people think about this idea i just had...

Hi cool idea, could this include end of year videos (club productions). Although segments would have to be selected if they are longer than 2mins.

Sounds Good. Is it unlimited submissions or do I just choose the best one to submit?

Wish we got the camera out yesterday. Drakey and I were having a blast. Trials races up a chopped out hill in the back yard. To make it more challenging i've cut 4 levels into the slope, with two different runs, we swap lanes each race. Great fun felt like those two aside races on Fuel TV.

When I cut the steps into the slope I thought this will slow us down. By the end of our races we were trying 3rd and 4th gear attacks. 2nd was best though as too much momentum and you bounce and spin.

Cheers

hey guys,

good to see a bit of interest in this idea. I guess I'm just looking for all input to see if it would be something worth doing and if people would be interested in it at first.

kembro - I reckon multiple videos would probably be ok. Maybe we could limit it at 3 or 5 or something? Because it would be good to have a nice collection of trials videos for us all to watch!

Gasman - I don't see why the end of year trials videos couldn't be used, after all it is the collection that you submit. It would just have to be submitted by whoever put it together and yeah it would just have to be sections because my thinking is that if you limited it to around the 2 minute mark for each video then there wouldn't be a problem for someone who's judging it to have to watch quite a few if they're only that long.

Keep the feedback coming guys and if there's enough support for it then it would be good to take the next steps and see if we can get the clubs involved and make it a great little thing for trials in Australia.

Excellent idea, I would be up for putting myself up kissing the front wheel, sometimes the back as I seem to spend a lot of my time falling off. Just need someone to film it. Jealous of Drakey and Kembro. Sounds like fun. Anyhow, I would be glad to give it my full support. I know there are enough videos from free style motocross, but maybe we could include some of our Enduro bretheren as they do have some technical sections. I don't ride Enduro by the way, just a thought.

Know what you mean about needing someone to film. That's our problem and every action sports videographers dilemma. When it's on they'd rather be doing it than filming.

I ride Dual Sport/ Enduro too, but I would like to see this as Trials bikes only. If it's a Trials Bike in an Enduro, then no worries. Speaking of great enduro footage, the Erzberg Rodeo has some of the best i've seen.

Yeah I agree with Kembro, maybe if we just stick to trials bikes then it would be better for all the trials riders so they don't get lost in between the enduro's!

And as for the videographers dilemma, that's definitely the case. Just think about it, with the day you said you were having the other day kembro, as if you would want to be watching you have all that fun instead of doing it yourself!

The only problem with the idea of this trials video comp is that the post has had 122 views, but only 5 replies! :?

So yeah we'll just have to see how it comes along over the next week or so and see if there's a little more support for it. If there's a bit might even just be worth seeing if one of the suppliers can throw in a shirt or dvd for the winner and then we can just have the comp for those that are interested in doing it. Could always email the clubs and see if they could post a notice about it in their newsletters if we go ahead with it as I'm sure there are people out there who don't use these forums that would be very interested.
