Painful riding helps?

Hi Al,
Last week I sustained a Trials injury (in a place I won’t mention here) and I’ve been hobbling around all week.
But yesterday and today, being a stubborn headed person, I manage to get back on the bike for a few short rides…(still in pain though).
I didn’t attempt anything too adventurous but I noticed I was riding with better balance and greater accuracy placing the front wheel…..But the question is…why

?
Was it because I feared more pain or was the pain helping me to focus

?
The other question is “how I can use this next time I ride?

”….injure myself before I get in the pegs

…(that doesn't appeal to me) or remember the pain before I ride

?
What do you think

?
Best of balance.

Gday Neo,
Is this injury related your broken footpeg?!?!
Anyway getting back to your question...Interesting..... I'm inclined to think that your injury is forcing you to ride with a more erect and centred stance.
(been there, with my dodgy knee!)
What grade do you ride???? This might shed more light on the situation.

I sometimes ride when the good old arthritis kicks in, sure it hurts bad, but i've also been told that movement is good for it too. So I try to ride when I can. I think it could be in the mind that you are so careful, so you don't damage yourself more. You concentrate. Watch your stance and where the front wheel is going etc. Won't hurt your overall riding in the long run anyway!
Keep riding within your limits.

well sounds like it was a fun accident!
I'd be inclined to think that you are concentrating a little more, but also that there's a chance your riding position is better at the moment. You might be getting a bit lower and keeping those knees nice and bent which you might've been lazy with before (as we all do).
I find that I stop thinking about my riding stance sometimes and then all of a sudden when I make myself keep those knees bent and concentrate more on it that I tend to start riding a lot better with much more control over the bike. I think sometimes you just need to focus on that a little more than the object in front of you...
Just a thought..

Hi All,
Yes the broken footpeg (and a broken mudguard) was the main damage to the bike. After doing a vertical 180 and landing on my back (2nd

).
The funny thing was the bike (now upside down with the bars on my chest) revved up (those PWK's are wonderful

), clutch out, and shot away upside down
The not so funny thing was, I was just riding on my drive way at the time. I wouldn't of mined if I was actually riding a rock or something
I think your all dead right on the focus and riding position things....maybe I've learnt a lesson worth suffering for
I'll BE BACK!!! (riding that is

)
Best of balance.
