Re: Montesa Cota colour code

Thanks, that gives me somewhere to start. It sounds like Montesa used a few different shades of red in the early days, so there may be more than one 'correct' colour.
Cheers

Montesa Cota colour code

Hi,

I am hoping someone may be able to give me a colour code they have had success with? It's for an early Cota 172. I have found a couple of codes on the net but they appear to be U.S. based as they don't come up on my local paint shop's system (Australia). I did a site search but couldn't find ...

Montesa Cota 123 rear rim

Hi,
It sounds like it was pretty popular to upgrade these to 18" rear wheel so I am hoping someone may have a 17" Cota rim lurking in their shed they may want to sell? Mine looked okay on the outside but when the tire came off I found it is very rusty, to the point where the inner bead is missing ...

Re: Cota 172 Restoration

The chassis is 19M1851, as I believe there were only about 1990 built I guess it’s pretty late, but I think it’s 1975.

My friend Colin Lough bought his Cota 172 new in 1976 from the Montesa shop at Breakfast Creek in Brisbane. It came with the strange sliding pin type kickstart lever and he ...

Re: Cota 172 Restoration

I am glad to see you haven't given up on it.There is not a whole lot of information out there on the 172 compared to other Montesa models although quite a lot seem to have made it to Australia. This page shows your bike as a 1977 model, so I wonder if they really did make them to 1980 as a lot of ...

Re: Cota 172 Restoration

I have enjoyed reading this thread and watching your rebuild. Hopefully the rebuild is still progressing and we will see an update soon. I didn't know Montesa made a blue trials bike, it must be a very rare machine you have there. I wonder how many blue ones were made? Any idea what year yours is ...

Re: Basket Cases

I recently picked up a basket case Montesa 123T. The previous owner bent the forks and threw away some of the parts! I reckon I can straighten the forks but require the threaded fork top. I believe the part number is 2835. 002. The forks are 30 mm OD.

New ones are available but I was hoping someone ...
